dr. Peter Klosse, owner of the Echoput and founder of the Academy
Peter Klosse (born 1956) is the owner of Hotel Gastronomique De Echoput since 1986 and founded the Academy for Gastronomy in 1992.
Klosse 's parents started in 1955 their Restaurant De Echoput in Hoog Soeren. In 1967 the restaurant was already wellknown and had one star in the Guide Michelin. Peter has developed his own theory on Flavourstyles as a way to classify flavours and got his Phd for his work in March 2004.
First Peter and his wife both studied business administration at Nijenrode Businessschool and University in Delft. After internships with several foreign companies (Peter worked with Robert Kranenborg in Brussels, Belgium, and the famous Troisgros brothers in Roanne, France) in 1983 they started in De Echoput. In 2002 Peter and his wife decided to add hotelfacilities to the restaurant. The only way to achieve this was to build a complete new building on the beautiful and historic spot in the royal forests of the Palace Het Loo. The hotel with 42 rooms and suites and two restaurants, opened in april 2007.
Already in 1991 Peter Klosse founded his own Academy for Gastronomy. Most of the chefs and sommeliers of many (of the best) restaurants in Holland have got their education on flavour, tasting, wine and foodpairing at the Academy by Peter Klosse. Peter did a lot of research and published several books on this subject. After his Phd at the University of Maastricht, he became part time professor at the Stenden University in Leeuwarden. Peter Klosse also gives lectures for groups in- and outside the hotel.
